For many years Quite Great worked with the maverick indie movie mogul Alki David which gave us a great insight into how to adapt our music and entertainment background to drive both industry media such as the Hollywood Reports through to local UK broadcast outlets.
Yet it is helping the small indie movie production companies in the UK that brings most satisfaction.
Quite Great Indie Movie PR brings together online, print and broadcast media helping on all levels to facilitate the breathing space needed by the producers and directors to help them focus on their strengths whilst we focus on ours, helping with media relations, sales and other marketing needs but it might be easier to leave the way we work to one of our favourite partners, the wonderful Kenton Hall and his Monkey Basket Films, a true indie movie all rounder –
Quite Great was delighted to have helped with the Indie movie PR and marketing for this unprecedented documentary ‘THE PICKUP GAME‘ that gave viewers an insiders’ glimpse into a billion-dollar industry that claims to teach the secrets of success with women. The Pickup Game shines a light onto this shrouded world, exposing its controversy and dangers in what Vents Magazine described as “The documentary every woman needs to see“.
The film is co-directed by brothers Matthew and Barnaby O’Connor. Following the success of their previous documentary feature California High, the O’Connors continue to stimulate social discussion through their uncompromising displays of provocative subjects. The producers team comprises a collaboration between Observatory Pictures, Voodoo Productions, TMI Pictures, and Post Religion who among them have credits on Vice, BBC, Nat Geo, MTV, TEDx, and many more.
The team at Quite Great are proud to have after UK indie Film ‘Look To The Light’ that examined Reality TV and Mental Health.
Agency 105, 101 Films International, QFilm & Jeremy Davis at Homesick Angel are producing UK feature film ‘Look To The Light’ from writer/director Christopher Manoe. The film follows wannabe celebrity influencer Eddie Reynolds who chases fast fame at the cost of his personal life and moral integrity.
Look To The Light examines themes of the pitfalls of reality TV, social media toxicity, and Gen Z’s mental health struggles.
Leading the film are stars Charlie Goddard and Kele le Roc. Charlie comes to the project fresh from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and the upcoming Warner Bros movie musical Wicked and previously starred in Netflix’s Jingle Jangle. Kele is a double MOBO award winning queen of UK garage with two chart topping singles who has collaborated with the likes of Basement Jaxx, Coolio, and Courtney Pine.
Independent film-making is a difficult game. I think anyone who has ever attempted it, knows that. It’s a constant learning curve and, often, a constant fight against a lack of resources, time and money.
And making the movie is only the beginning of the process. So many talented and creative people complete incredible pieces of work, only to find themselves asking the eternal question, “What now?”
The role of PR in the success of a film, in raising awareness and building an audience for your work is often misunderstood and, certainly, undervalued.
‘Inspired The 30 Second Song Movie’ is a must-watch documentary for fans and for viewers passionate about the music industry. The film focuses on the journey of one band, ‘The Pocket Gods’ on a mission to challenge Spotify’s broken streaming system. Directed by the Frontman Mark Lee, himself, he aims to expose the struggles of being an indie band in the age of music streaming.
The story of The Pocket Gods and their fight for fair pay from music streaming services like Spotify is a powerful reminder of the challenges facing unsigned musicians today. Their creative approach of releasing 1,000-track albums of 30-second song to maximise royalty payments is both inspiring and sobering, highlighting the harsh reality of the current streaming landscape for independent artists.
As a PR company, we are proud to support The Pocket Gods and their mission to bring greater fairness to the music industry. Our work with them has been featured in several top publications, including Music-News, I News, Tinnitist, NME, GB News, Hotpress & many more.
Youth Music Theatre UK worked with Quite Great for the premiere of our new musical, A Teenage Opera, as well as being incredibly professional, friendly and efficient, they did a brilliant job, achieved our aims within the campaign and were a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Quite Great who are really great.
We worked with Quite Great on the cinema launch of our film "A Dozen Summers". They were brilliant to work with. Creative, flexible, and hard-working. And they love what they do. And they always wanted to know what we wanted, how we saw the campaign and came up with ideas to suit it. Personally, I can't recommend them highly enough.
