Scottish-based singer-songwriter Ferdinand Rennie has released his heartfelt new single, You Wrote Hallelujah. The emotional pop ballad celebrates the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic songs. It also explores how life experiences shape unforgettable music.
Songwriters Michael Andrew Storm and Meg McAndrew wrote the track. Alan Vukelic and Ferdinand Rennie produced it together. The song reflects on how artists transform love, loss, hope and faith into music that connects with listeners across generations.
The inspiration comes from two legendary songs. Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah reflects his personal struggles with faith. John Newton wrote Amazing Grace after transforming his own life through redemption. You Wrote Hallelujah honours these stories while celebrating the emotional honesty behind great songwriting.
Ferdinand has spent more than 30 years building an international music career. Born in Graz, Austria, he appeared on Austrian and German television before settling in Scotland. He also competed in Austria’s Eurovision Song Contest selection and starred in productions including Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Beauty and the Beast and Little Shop of Horrors.
His career includes performing for Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco and touring with Eurovision winner Vicky Leandros. In 2022, ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent invited Ferdinand to audition after producers discovered his online performance of Never Enough. The appearance introduced his music to thousands of new listeners and helped grow his international audience.
Today, Ferdinand continues to release music through his independent label, Fabscots Music. His latest single combines powerful storytelling with an uplifting message about hope, creativity and resilience. He also hopes to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest one day.
