Irish cellist and composer Clíodhna Ní Aodáin releases her new album For The Love Of Trees, a beautiful contemporary Celtic project inspired by nature, connection and reflection. Released via Curve Blue, the album blends cello, voice, piano and atmospheric soundscapes.
For many years, Clíodhna has felt a deep connection with trees and the natural world. As a result, she began taking her cello into forests across Ireland, Switzerland and the United States. There, she created spontaneous musical conversations with individual trees through melody and improvisation.
The result is For The Love Of Trees, a collection of seven atmospheric pieces. Each track reflects the unique character of the trees that inspired the music. These include Linden, Rowan, Redwood and the Fairie Tree. The focus track “Linden Tree” creates a calm and immersive listening experience.
Furthermore, the album features a unique recording process. It was recorded using the cello of Grammy Award-winning musician David Darling. It was also produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Mickey Houlihan. Together, they helped create a rich sound world combining cello, voice, piano and field recordings.
Through For The Love Of Trees, Clíodhna Ní Aodáin invites listeners to slow down and reconnect with nature. The album explores themes of healing, mindfulness and the power of deep listening.
Moreover, Clíodhna’s music bridges Celtic tradition with contemporary healing sounds. Her work goes beyond a traditional performance. Instead, it creates a space for reflection, connection and emotional discovery.
With its combination of Celtic influences, expressive cello and nature-inspired storytelling, For The Love Of Trees introduces a distinctive artistic voice. Ultimately, the album celebrates music as a way to reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.
