Christopher Henderson is proving that industrial materials can become striking works of contemporary fine art, combining more than 25 years of engineering and metal fabrication expertise with a passion for artistic expression.
Based in Kingston upon Hull, Henderson creates bespoke sculptures and wall art using stainless steel, aluminium and Corten steel. His work brings together technical precision and contemporary design, with each piece individually handcrafted in his studio.
From Engineering to Fine Art
Henderson’s artistic approach is shaped by his extensive background in engineering and sheet metal fabrication. He uses specialist techniques including TIG welding, mechanical slip rolling, plasma cutting and polishing, alongside his own texturing process.
The resulting sculptures combine flowing forms, etched textures and reflective surfaces, creating artworks that change character as they interact with light throughout the day.
Rather than producing mass-market decorative pieces, Henderson creates individual artworks designed to become statement pieces within residential, commercial and hospitality spaces.
Contemporary Metal Art with an International Reach
Henderson’s work has already found homes across more than 20 countries and over 800 cities, with hundreds of sales through his online galleries and commissioned projects for private collectors.
His ambitions now extend further into luxury residential developments, hotels, corporate spaces and bespoke large-scale installations, where his sculptures can become architectural centrepieces.
His work also reflects a strong family connection to art. Inspired by an uncle who was an abstract oil painter and a father who created bespoke picture frames and sold fine art, Henderson combines those early influences with decades of technical experience.
