International composer, cellist, and rising creative force YJL is opening a striking new chapter in her career. Known for her world-class classical training, YJL now introduces a fresh and modern sound that blends cinematic cello with K-pop-inspired energy, marking a clear evolution in her artistic identity.
With eight original tracks completed and two music videos ready for release, YJL steps confidently into the global spotlight with a fully self-composed and self-produced catalogue created on Logic Pro. The project highlights her growing role not only as a performer, but also as a producer shaping her own sonic universe.
From Elite Classical Training to a Global Sound
YJL is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She attended both institutions on scholarship. Because of this training, she earned early international recognition.
Critics praised her playing for its “great ease and sensitivity” (Das Orchester). Meanwhile, The Strad highlighted her “technical flawlessness and rich sound.” Her recording of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante was later described as “highly recommended” by Classical Net.
Now based in Seoul, YJL draws from a multicultural life. She has lived in the United States, France, Belgium, and Korea. Moreover, she is fluent in English, French, and Korean, which strengthens her global artistic identity.
A New Creative Era: Cello Meets K-Pop
At this stage, YJL describes her sound as “cello + K-pop fusion with emotional storytelling.” Her new music combines expressive strings with pop-driven rhythms and modern Korean production.
The upcoming tracks include:
- New Day
- Sky
- Soft Star
- Jazz On
- Je T’aime
- Vibe
Together, these songs reflect a personal artistic rebirth. They sound uplifting, melodic, and emotionally rich. In addition, each release is supported by strong visual concepts designed for digital-first audiences.
As a result, the project is positioned for reach across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.
Beyond Performance: A Multidimensional Artist
Alongside her solo releases, YJL has produced the project Familiar Classics, collaborating with a Netflix comedian, a Forbes-featured pianist, and fellow Juilliard alumni. Her cross-genre mindset, easy-going personality, and ability to connect cultures through music position her as a compelling subject for interviews, features, and global editorial coverage.
Background and Human Story
Despite her father’s high-profile career as Korea’s former Minister of Trade and Industry and former Vice CEO of LG, YJL emphasizes her independent path. She grew up modestly and worked for years as a private cello teacher in Seoul while performing in classical concerts across Europe and Asia.
Her journey reflects discipline, persistence, and a deep desire for artistic freedom—elements that strongly shape her new creative direction.
Outside the studio, YJL enjoys dancing, jogging, and listening to jazz. Her warm, humorous, and approachable personality comes through in short-form performance and storytelling videos created for fans and media alike.
A Global Vision for Digital Reach
YJL’s current campaign focuses on online viral marketing, music video exposure, and international reach, with a clear emphasis on Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Her vibrant visuals, multilingual fluency, and genre-blending sound make her a natural fit for today’s global digital audience.
“My new passion is composing. It’s challenging—but SO MUCH FUN. This joy is my long-term commitment.” — YJL
